Educational Workshops

Workshops are a great way to provide additional services to the members of your gym, business, department, etc. and show them that your care about keeping them healthy!

Every workshop is taught by Tom Hanson, Doctor of Physical Therapy. Workshops are approximately 1 hour long and include: educational presentation, self-assessment techniques, exercises to address or prevent issues, and time for Q&A at the end.

Available topics are listed on this page, but if you have a particular interest Integrity PT will tailor a workshop to your needs. We hope to work with gyms (including Martial Arts academies and CrossFit gyms), Police/Fire departments, or businesses where employees need to maintain physical fitness to keep working.

The first workshop is always FREE of charge! Reach out to us about pricing for additional workshops - Discounts are available for packages of multiple workshops if you’d like to schedule several throughout the year.

  • Learn about basic anatomy/physiology of the cervical spine, common sources of pain, common injuries, and mobility/strengthening exercises to prevent issues.

  • The shoulder is a unique joint in that it has a lot of mobility, but requires stabilization and appropriate movement patterns to prevent pain and injury. Learn about balancing mobility and stability in the shoulder.

  • One of the most common pain areas seen in physical therapy. Our low backs need good mobility, postural organization, and strength to tolerate higher level loading and sport activities.

  • The pelvis connects the trunk and the hips and allows us to generate power through our lower extremities. Learn about basic self-assessments to find issues, and techniques to address them.

  • In nearly all sports, knee injuries are common and cause significant time away from training and competition. Knees are often one of the first joints to suffer from “wear and tear” for athletes. Learn to understand the anatomy of your knees, and how to protect them for the future while continuing to train hard.

  • Our feet and ankles are where the rubber meets the road. Lack of mobility and/or strength affects everything above, just like the tires and suspension on our cars. If you’ve never thought about training your feet, this is the workshop for you.

  • You might not think you need to be taught how to breathe, but there is a lot to this basic and essential function of our body. From reducing back pain to improving sleep, focus, and sport performance - understanding the diaphragm and breathing mechanics can have global effects on the body.

  • Learn about how your nervous system functions and manages different systems in your body. This workshop focuses on working with your nervous system to increase performance and recovery.

  • Fascia or connective tissue is the glue that holds us together. Optimizing mobility and injury prevention is not complete without understanding this fascinating system. This workshop will cover numerous techniques to maintain mobility in the fascial system.
